Spanish writer, storyteller and
actress. She has published five poetry
books: “Sospecho que soy humo” [I suspect
I am of smoke] (2002), “Aunque cubras
mi cuerpo de cerezas” [Though you cover my body with cherries] (2004) (both
awarded with significant literary prizes), “Distintos
métodos para hacer elefantes” [Different methods to make elephants] (2006),“Gritos verticales" [Vertical
cries] (2010) and “La cicatriz” [The scar] (2017). She is the author of the poems included in the folder of
etchings by Luis Feito “Tiempo de luz” [Time of light] (2004).
Among other prizes, Gracia
Iglesias has been awarded with the poetry prizes “Gloria Fuertes”, National “Miguel
Hernández” and “Luna de Aire” (for children’s poetry), and she was a finalist
for the prizes “Vicente Presa” of poetry and “Hucha de Oro” of narrative. Some
of her poems, narrative texts, and art criticism essays have been translated
into English, Brazilian, Japanese, Italian, Catalan, Galician and Basque, and her name is
included in more than fifty anthology books in Spain, Italy, England, Mexico
and Japan.
In the field of children's literature she has published the poetry book

“Nuevo Jardín de las Letras” [New garden
of the letters], published by the publishing house Algaida. Coming soon more
children’s books will be published by other important Spanish publishing
houses.
Her poetry is linked to her
interest in other artistic expressions like painting and theatre, what leads
her, since 1999, to participate in performances, workshops, storytelling and
other activities where different aesthetic codes converge. And since 2008 she combines
her work in these areas with her profession as storyteller and actress. She has
performed in many different institutions of Spain, England, Austria, Germany
and Iceland.
She is always willing to go and tell stories or recite poems wherever
she is called, either schools, libraries or public squares because is something
that she loves to do.
